Sarah - I am totally impressed that you even bothered. :) Anyway, the name of the book is "Winged Sandals" and it was written by an author named Lucien Price. It's a travelogue published in 1928 that I picked up at McKintyre & Moore in Davis Sq. (http://hodoeporicon.blogspot.com/2006/07/bibliophilia.html)
It's a charming little travel story written by a Harvard grad that illustrates the "European tour" in the 1920s so well.
