Home Again, Home Again . . .

Jiggity-jig. Just a quick note to say that we're home safe & sound. We got back to my apartment around 10 last night & I worked a full day today, so I'm beat. I'll check in again in a day or two with pictures! In the short term, here is one of Nick & I in front of St. Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh. :)

Leaving on a Jet Plane . . .

That's right, kids. In less than 24 hours, I will be on a flight to Edinburgh (via Heathrow, of course)! :) I'll be leaning back in my seat, smiling at Nick, and watching the lights of the eastern seaboard fade into the night. Maybe I'll have a small snack & a glass of red wine. Or maybe I'll reach into my new leather tote (in brown) to retrieve a book. Or maybe I'll just snuggle in next to my man & dream sweet dreams of our landing in Scotland. Either way, it's a heck of a lot better than puttering around the apartment, getting ready for the workday to come!

I'll be back next Wednesday, with plenty of pictures & stories. I hope you all have a good week. Catch you on the flip side!

(Oh, and the picture above is me on top of Arthur's Seat in October of '03. Edinburgh - here I come again!)

St. Patrick's Day Recap

Hello all! Hope you had good weekends & those of you who celebrate St. Patty's Day had a rip-roaring good time. :) I've uploaded the pics from my weekend in South Boston & wanted to share them!
I look funny in this picture. To be honest, I often look funny in pictures when I'm drunk. ;)

The supplies

The Quencher getting their supplies (Eileen, this pic is for you!)

Tony is the bomb, yo. He fit 3 whole Guinesses into his Double Gulp cup. I bet his mom is so proud. :)

Had a hard time finding my friends, but did see Erin for a little bit.

See! I look weird in any & all pictures where drinking is involved. ;)

Check out the rest of the pics here.

Nothing in Writing Yet . . .

But the application website for State U says I've been admitted to the program!!! :)

That's all for now. It's enough excitement for one night, right?

Gearing Up

Two important countdowns going on here, kids. Numero uno - T minus 4 days until St. Patty's Day. This is my first St. Patty's Day in Southie & I'm pumped!

On Friday night, we're going out for dinner for our 6-month anniversary to Amrhein's. Our actual anniversary is the 17th (Saturday), but we opted to celebrate on Friday to keep the focus on "Yay for 6 months!"

On Saturday, I'm tutoring in the morning, but will be back in Southie by noon for the festivities. I expect to have a pint in front of me by 12:30 at the latest! My college friends will be around that night, so I, along with the rest of the city of Boston, will be out & about enjoying some "beverages."

On Sunday, a friend of a friend is having a party for the St. Patty's Day parade. I expect to begin around 10am that day. ;)

And numero dos is the countdown to Scotland! T minus 9 days until we leave!!! :) The pic above is me in Edinburgh in 2003. You can bet that tweed cap will be dusted off & rocked both this weekend & next week. ;)

The Breath of Babies? That's just weird . . .

Today, I went to lunch with some co-workers at Russo's. Russo's is a farm stand about which everyone in my office is batshit crazy. As in, today three separate carloads journeyed there & back (in an office of sixteen people). As in, "I have five dollars in my bank account, I will use that to get my Russo's fix instead of having any money at all."

Anyway, they have a great flower selection & I love to browse. As we were leaving, I noticed my co-worker A. had purchased a small bouquet for his wife. I asked what flowers were in it & somehow the subject of baby's breath came up (don't worry - there was none in this bouquet). Both my co-worker R & I like baby's breath on its own, but can't stand it as a filler in bouquets. I thought about it, then announced from the back seat, "You know who loves baby's breath? Women who keep stuffed animals on the back window shelf of their cars. That's who likes baby's breath!" Ladies - are you with me on this one? ;)

"A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever"

So said John Keats. And look at how beautiful my pint is! :) It's actually Belhaven's Scottish Ale, but it's benefiting from the new Sam Adams pint glass. There's also no way it's lasting forever, either. I'm off to enjoy it! Have a good night, kids.

Warning - Busy Girl

Hey all. :) Hope you had nice weekends. I wanted to go on record by saying that posting will probably be spotty over the next week or so. I worked 62 hours last week and expect to work 55 this week. I've got to use all of my brain power for my job & my students this week, so I may not be around too much.

I promise I'll be back soon, though. My schedule calms down a bit next week, if only briefly. After that, I celebrate my anniversary & St. Patty's on the 17th and fly off to Scotland on the 21st! :)

(Photo above is of me on an "office cleaning day." Why I volunteered to clean behind this shelving unit is beyond me, but it made for some funny photos & jokes about the "caged Stacey" as a domesticated form of the "wild Stacey.")

Giant Food!

I don't have much tonight. Just wanted to share with you guys the huge meatball sub I had for dinner. Four meatballs, sauce, and cheese - all tucked into a whole French bread loaf. Crazy! Here it is with some of my glassware & two wine bottles, to give a sense of scale. :)
That's literally all I've got. Have a good night, all!
