You can lead me to water . . .

but you can't make me witty? I don't know where I was going with that, so bear with me.

Taking advantage of Portsmouth Restaurant Week, The Boy and I went out for a nice belated 6-month anniversary dinner tonight. We tried Anneke Jan's, which is a lovely bistro over the river in Kittery, ME. I'd been hearing about it forever, so thought it worth a try.

The meal was delicious (& the bread pudding to die for). The Boy got the duck rillette appetizer and pork chop entree, while I went with an organic chicken breast entree. When we got home, we were telling our roommate what we ordered and my sad, sad sense of humor came up with, "It was like a farm right on the table!"

Bud-ump-ump-ching?

Wedding News!

Crap. Shouldn't have put that in the title. Now I've lost all of those-who-are-bored-with-wedding-planning. ;) However, I think I've done a pretty good job so far shielding you all from the wedding planning 3-ring circus that's been running around my head. The Boy, my mother, my close friends, and slow-moving passersby have not gotten the same courtesy.

So. This tree, right here, right below, is the tree under which we will be married. Squeee! It's in a seaside park nearby, with the gorgeous view detailed below.

This final photo is the view from under the tree - the view that will be to my left during the ceremony.

Now, the one glitch in this whole "specific wedding tree" plan is that because it's a public park, we can't actually reserve this specific area. The park is, very rightly & democratically, "first come first serve."

It does freak me out a bit that we can't lay official claim to this little spot of land. However, we're getting married outdoors, at the end of September, in a cold New England state, in a small town. I don't
think I'll have to fight off any other brides. But, so help me, I will if I have to. ;)

Wild Life

Just a quick post to note happily that last night, I was here, seeing these guys perform. And now The Boy & I are here, visiting my best friend & her boyfriend. :)

Cute Photos of the Boys

Every so often, my sister sends me great photos of the boys, just playing around the house. In this case, the ones she sent last week chronicled their first time playing in the yard during the nice weather last weekend. Note that they both are smiling to themselves, tongues stuck out! Guess they really are brothers. :)

The Foolhardiness of Youth

OK, I'm back from New York & I promise a better update soon. However, I just have to note one thing. Today, March 8th, marks the first day that I've spotted on campus not one, but two people sporting flip flops and - this is the kicker - one guy wearing shorts!

Part of me wants to judge them so hard for rushing into spring & likely freezing their bums off. Yet, part of me is all "Oh, we're New Englanders. We do crazy things like that once the temperature hits a sweltering 50 degrees."

Update: On the way from the library to my car, I spotted two more pairs of shorts - one of which was paired with another pair of flip flops. Oh, to be young again . . . and cold. ;)

Also:

I'm getting my engagement ring re-sized & it's amazing how bare my hand feels. I've only worn it for a little over two months, but it's clearly made its presence felt. Of course I'm always thinking of The Boy & our future plans, but it's surprising how much a physical symbol made me feel well & truly engaged.

In fact, I may or may not have dug up a fake diamond ring that I bought years ago, just to make myself - and my hand - feel better!

AWOL

Oy. Perhaps because I was sick recently, my computer has sympathetically come down with a virus. After much teeth-gnashing & stressful folder searching, I think I've tracked it down & deleted it (with help from The Boy). So I apologize for my recent silence.

I'm also off on a business trip to NYC early (as in 6am early) tomorrow, so I'll have to catch up on blog things at the end of the week. Again, my apologies! I wish I could spend more time here - I've got wedding news & everything!

Next week, kittens, I promise.
