Performance Anxiety

I think I have a mild case. See, much of the time, I sit down to blog, then decide I want to open up other people's blogs and read those first. Then, after having immersed myself in the wit and wisdom of my blog roll, I seem to have little motivation left for crafting my own missives.

Woe is the writer's blocked blogger, right? Maybe if I make an effort to write something before I dive into the depths of my blog list, maybe I'll get off more than a weekly post? We'll see.

Meanwhile, if you come here seeking entertainment and are sorely disappointed (more than usually, that is), perhaps you should check out my blog roll, too. Clearly, there's some addicting stuff in there. I highly recommend Dooce (but doesn't everyone?), The Frozen Icarus, Private Secret Diary, and Camels & Chocolate. Just be forewarned!

Oh.... er... golly... thanks for that.

I find I can't do anything else on the PC when I should be writing. Because otherwise I use up my writing brain. It is probably a common condition?

likewise blushing. ;) But I miss hearing about your life!!! How bout this: if you're not inspired to do it in public, do it in private in an email to me. And then I'll be all up in your grill, knowing your shiz. Loff and dirty snowflakes.

The first time I visited your blog, I read "Boston Bloggers" as "Bottom Bloggers" and was grateful that someone seemed to be acknowledging a few of the many blogs written by catfish sitting on the bottom of ponds and lakes ingesting garbage. But I came back today wearing my new glasses and realized my mistake. How disappointing!

Stacey, I would dearly love to have Moristotle's masthead photo span the entire width of its two columns, the way yours does Hodoeporicon's two columns. However, I couldn't discover from examining your HTML source how you achieved it. And I realize now that your text is either part of or superimposed on your photo, so there's even more going on here than I at first realized. (Really cool!) Would you be so kind as to share your "secret"? Thanks!

I wonder whether Moristotle's "appearance's" being down-level is a factor? I made some changes in the style sheet and feared I'd lose them if I updated....

Indeed, I've discovered that the "widescreen" banner photo (with text superimposed on top) is to be had with the latest blog formats. I'm on my way. Thanks for your help (if passive) in facilitating my discoveries.

Jonny - Indeed. I think the writing brain problem is fairly widespread. It reminds me of something I used to have as a child, called a "dessert shelf." As in, "Hey there, little Stacey, do you want any more of this mushy, stringy spinach?" And, in response, "Oh, no, thanks. My spinach shelf is all full . . . but my dessert shelf has lots of room!"

Andrew - I so sorry, monkey. I get better at blog or I email you more often. I have your prolixity to look up to, after all. ;)

Moristotle - Glad I could be of no help whatsoever! Glad you found what you were looking for. And yes, bottom-feeding bloggers would be AWESOME.

I prefer logorrhea. It's just as negative as prolixity, but sounds less intentional... :D
