Sneaky Ships

The ships HMS Bounty and Lynx, docked at Portsmouth's fishing pier around 7:45 last night. They were supposed to arrive today for the Tall Ships event this weekend, but they snuck in last night!

Not bad . . .

Not a bad view, huh? I'm in NYC this weekend for my bachelorette party and this is the view of the Empire State building from the roof deck at my friend/bridesmaid's apartment. From the other side of the roof? Yes, Virginia, you can see all the way to the Statue of Liberty. :)

And so it goes . . .

My apologies for not posting for almost two weeks. On Friday night, my dear grandfather passed away after a fairly recent cancer diagnosis. I've been spending the weekend with my family, both mourning his death and celebrating his life. Will try to work my way back here soon. Thanks for your patience.

Again with the Slow Blogging . . .

My apologies again for taking so long to check in here. I can't believe it's been more than a week since I last posted! The normal hectic pace of life has stepped up a notch around here and despite my best efforts, I simply haven't had the time.

We've had some bad family news, as well. My 84-year old grandfather is currently in the hospital and diagnosed with congestive heart failure and liver cancer. They're doing a lot of testing now, so we're not sure of the prognosis, but he's resting (reasonably) comfortably at the moment. Your thoughts (and prayers, if you're so inclined) would be most welcome!

So I'm friends with the President on Facebook. Natch.

His staff photographer posted a photo album the other day chronicling the Obamas' first year in the White House. I found some that made me giggle, some that made me belly laugh, and some that made me say "awww." Below are some of those images.

1. I suck at blogging, evidently. Just twice so far in April - blagh.
2. We renewed our lease. Neither one of us has ever done that before - exciting!
3. I started a new job. Two days of it in the books - good so far.
4. We're getting married in 71 days! Yikes.
