Long Distance by the Numbers

• # of days since I've heard my husband's voice: 4 
• # of days since I've seen his face: 18 
• # of days since I've hugged him: 94 
• # of days since he's been in his own home: 312 
• # of days until I get him back: not 100% sure (nor could I tell you even if I was), but it's less than 94, at least! 

Man, look at that shizz. No wonder I'm a mess. Luckily, he's back now from a mission and we should be able to talk tonight! Huzzah!

I know I'm not the first to think of this . . .

but I was just listening to the Dropkick Murphys' "Skinhead on the MBTA" and thinking about the original "Charlie on the MTA."  If you're not familiar, the premise is that a guy named Charlie was able to board an MBTA train, but not able to get off, due to a fare increase.  Short just one nickel, he is fated to ride the train beneath Boston forever.

In the second stanza, these lines occur:

Charlie's wife goes down
To the Scollay Square station
Every day at quarter past two
And through the open window
She hands Charlie a sandwich

As the train comes rumblin' through. 

. . . .

For those of you keeping track at home, that's $478.64 in unspent gift cards! And even more once I figure out how much the T.J. Maxx one is. I better get on the stick . . .

So in the face of some not-so-great news about J's deployment (well, a nice nod to his responsibility & trustworthiness, but ultimately a longer period apart), I wanted to post this funny thing from a few weeks ago.

Justin: I went to an Xzibit concert [on base] and went to the free book place next to it and came back with a copy of "Bleak House."
Stacey: I am soooo blogging that.

Helps me to remember what a unique little snowflake he is and how perfect he is for me.
